Posted: 19 Feb 2020 02:44 PM PST Probably a bit of a hot-take, but I just can't find myself enjoying the FMV scenes of RA2 like I used to. Everything about them just doesn't feel right. I mean, sometimes it's serious, mostly campy, but it feels...off. I don't feel any depth or believability of what I am fighting for as either side. The goofy hammy acting and sexual innuendos always throw me off to the point where I just skip the rest of the cutscene and go on with the gameplay. Maybe I might have played it too much, but I like RA1's FMVs. They are slightly campy, but still serious and almost believable. There is a difference in tone when having Stalin ordering production of nerve gas to use on civilian towns to Romanov cheerfully announcing the invasion of the US. I was playing the game almost daily, and one day it just didn't open the game launcher anymore. I tried repairing, reinstalling the game and the Origin client, even using cracked executables.
