What would you want from the next red alert game?

While I wouldn't be surprised if another command and conquer title is announced this year, I doubt it would be a red alert game. Still, the Red Alert franchise could go in two very different directions, and I think the developers would work to ensure this new Red Alert is unique from the past games. It seems, at the moment, that the franchise could go two different directions:

    • Reboot: Restart the Red Alert franchise, without trying to tie it into the Tiberium Universe. The campaign and combat would have a grounded feel, with the majority of the factions using real vehicles or less-popular prototypes and sprinkling in super science to add flavor to armies, instead of defining them. Make a campaign which heavily features historical figures, with emphasis on the particularly controversial ones, like Stalin, Mussolini, MacArthur, etc. As someone who spends too much time modding Hearts of Iron, this is pretty appealing to me.

    • Sequel: Uprising left the world of Red Alert 3's timeline in a mess. Yes, the empire was almost completely pacified, but the Soviet Union is still strong, and there's a good chance the Allies aren't exactly popular, especially in the United States, which might be seriously considering leaving the faction after loosing their President. Lean into the weird science for every unit, make a crazy-silly story with several new factions, and hire as many b-list actors as you can handle to chew the scenery. The now-defunct Paradox mod proved you could have a lot of fun with this timeline and premise.

For this discussion, I don't really want to talk about mechanics, units, and potential story-lines, just what kind of feel you'd prefer in the next red alert game.
