Why I (reluctantly) refunded the Remaster Posted: 11 Jun 2020 10:20 AM PDT Upon seeing all of the love and positive feedback for the remaster on this subreddit, I thought it might be appropriate for someone on the other side of the fence to post their thoughts. Last night, I refunded the Remastered edition of the game on Steam. It was an extremely difficult decision because I absolutely adore this franchise, and want to support it any way I can. However, after experiencing nothing but issues with the game, I sadly had to request the refund. What were my issues? Beyond the (expected) stability issues with the multiplayer/matchmaking servers, the game just loves to crash or lock up on me. I even got the game to hard lock upon attempting to open the menu last night in a skirmish. I'm on what I would currently consider a mid-range gaming PC, so I have to believe this is a game that should run. So why am I posting this (and risking being down voted for not being a positive voice in the chorus)? We need to be as enthusiastic about getting the team to fix the bugs in this game, as we have been in praising them for their efforts so far. That having been said, I absolutely believe I'm in the minority, and I'm completely willing to come back into the fold once the team has had several months to iron out the bugs in this product. I'm sure some of these issues wouldn't be present if not for the COVID-19 reality we live in today. Please keep working out all these issues. I want to come back soon. Besides, if I don't give back my $20 at some point, we might not get the TS/RA2 remaster we all want. [link] [comments]

I think we should give more appreciation to this remaster and slow down the RA2 requests Posted: 11 Jun 2020 03:39 PM PDT Let me start this post by saying that Red Alert 2 is my all time favorite video game. I love it to death. It holds a very special place in my heart. However, I fear we have become so focused on it and Tiberian Sun being next that we haven't really given much appreciation to this remaster and the efforts Petroglyph, Lemon Sky, and the community have put into it. The game hasn't even been out for a week and it feels like everyone has already moved on. I think this is almost creating an atmosphere in which we are forgetting their efforts that were specifically for us. Jimtern and the team made it very clear we were the ones in mind when they created this game. There was clearly a lot of love put into it. And, for that reason, it is somewhat disheartening to see many people saying they only bought the game to support a different remaster. It's almost as if the game created isn't good enough for us and we need a new one. I feel as though we should stop and really appreciate the amazing remaster that this is. Because it is amazing, and it, as well as the developers (And yes, even EA), deserve every bit of praise they get. I'm not sure whether this will even be noticed or downvoted, but I think we should really stop and appreciate this game more. [link] [comments]
Hey, can everyone stop with the meme spam and which game the next remaster should be? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 12:37 AM PDT This remaster brought together fans for this franchise .I know we all like cnc, but please stop with the memes. At the very least with the bad ones. This feels like it's 2002 again, with all the cringy stuff. I know I will sound like a snob here, but how old are people here? The memes are so cringy and puerile they would be ok if a 12 year old made them. I'm pretty sure the average hardcore fan of this game is at least a teen or older. The same goes with the "which will be the next remaster". This one isn't even out for a month. We will get an answer who knows when. Maybe in December, maybe never. Time will tell. I would like for the subreddit to contain more gameplay replays, bug reports or modding discussions. I really don't understand why this is this way. Wc3 reforged subreddit wasn't like this and isn't like this. [link] [comments]

Thank you EA and Petroglyph games Posted: 11 Jun 2020 12:04 AM PDT In 1995 my friend was the only person I knew with a computer, he would get some really cool games and I would visit on the weekend to play. One weekend he had a new game called Command and Conquer and the rest was history. Every week I would visit and play some more missions, we would work through each level together and had a blast. A short time after my mum bought our first PC and I saved up my £10 a week paper round money to buy a copy for myself, a year later I was building PC's out of spare parts just so myself and a friend could play multiplayer against each other. This game has stayed with me all my life, it's driven my purchases to try and replicate that feeling of owning the game, the excitement of the story, the amazement of the installation process :) I have never been so excited for DLC either, back in the 90s we had limited places to buy games so we traveled on a train an hour to our local shopping centre to purchase covert ops, I still get a weird excitement walking in the shop where they used to sell the games 24 years later :) Then we found out about typing a secret code to launch the game in DOS and you get dinosaur missions! blew my mind. Thank you to the original team at Westwood who created this masterpiece, thank you EA and Petroglyph games for working hard to create a truly amazing remaster. I'm ready to preorder the next one!! :) Sorry for the S#!t post just wanted to gush :) [link] [comments]
