So most people already know this but I was caught off guard. This must be what inspired the ant missions. Did some digging to find an old movie "It Came from Beyond the Mountain" that used the same font style as the Red Alert ant missions but it has a Spider crawling over the ridge instead of an ant

Puns in the C&C Sega Saturn cheat codes.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 11:47 AM PDT

Intro: I'm from Sweden, and down is "ner" in Swedish, so N for short. A Sega Saturn controller has: D-pad, A, B, C, X, Y, Z (and Start) buttons.

This morning, on the way to work, one of the cheat codes for C&C just appeared in my mind.. Me and my cousin memorized them sort of like mantras.. The code to make extra units available is: Y, A, B, B, A, Down, A, B, B, A, Down, then Up. This to me became YABBA-NABBA-NU. For some reason I got thinking "what would it be in English?" Doh! YABBA-DABBA-DU! Hah.. Flintstones!

So now that I looked at the codes I found another one; "To build a toxic lab, press C, Right, A, Z, Y, B, Up, B, B, then A"... Crazy Bubba! :D This is probably old news to native English speaking people, but still! I'm guessing people playing C&C on Saturn are pretty sparse so this might be a tad interesting. :)

What really bums me out though is that I didn't know you could enter the "additional units" code a second time to unlock MCV and Commando etc! Rats!

I could see any hidden messages in the other codes.. https://www.consoledatabase.com/cheats/segasaturn/commandandconquer/

The future of C&C after the remasters' release?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 08:07 AM PDT

    Hello C&C community,

In recent days, due to the ever dynamic and unpredictable situation with the coronavirus, I had to stay home and keep my family and friends safe via social distancing. During this time I was able to catch up on some lost time with my favorite C&C games. I am more than excited for the release of the Red Alert and Tiberium originals' remasters in June this year, though I am withholding a pre-order to see if EA does not screw the pooch meanwhile or the coronavirus situation does not take another turn for the worse. Nevertheless, I have also been giving a great deal of thought to the future of the series afterwards.

Recently I upgraded my PC from a Windows 7 to a Windows 10 OS. To my horror, Tiberian Sun, Firestorm, RA2 and Yuri's Revenge could not run until I researched the Internet for fan-made patches and solutions. While I was able to get those games running, they still suffer from extremely annoying, albeit occasional glitches (screen pop-ups, freezes and crashes) which force me to restart the games or my PC before I can resume playing normally. No matter how much we patch up these games to run at least admirably okay under W10, no matter how many and how powerful patches fans release online, it is my belief that these games have simply aged too much by now and they are in dire need of a remaster as well. After all, it is probably only a matter of time before the next big OS upgrade comes along since W10 was released back in 2015. When this happens, all those patches will need to be updated as well due to possible compatibility issues with the new OS. Furthermore, I do not believe every C&C fan out there would be keen on reverting to or keeping an older OS just for the sake of being able to play these games, regardless of how beloved and renowned they may be (and I as a C&C fan sure as hell love 'em).

That being said, it has now been 10 years since EA has made an entirely new edition to the C&C franchise. I am sure as hell not counting the "Rivals" mobile experiment because "C&C" and "mobile games" are just mutually exclusive to me and I do not want to start on Kane's face model in that game, but that is just my opinion. It is also sad that such an RTS mastodon like C&C had its latest new PC edition with a game like 2010's C&C4 which was, as I would put it, way too much an extravagant experiment in terms of gameplay and a huge disappointment in terms of storytelling and fan service. At the end it just felt like an uninspired wrap-up of the whole TibWar saga developed to make everyone forget that it ever existed...

So, I was wondering what do you think about the future of C&C after the remasters' release? What do you want to see after a hopefully successful remasters' release in June 2020? Obviously, this all depends heavily on the remasters' performance on the market following release, as well as numerous outside factors including but not limited to the coronavirus situation. But I would very much like to find out what you think about C&C's future :)
