- After more than 20 years this game is still such a delight to play, i never understood the story back when i was a kid. Playing this again on hard mode and seeing how much work went into the story and gameplay for its time was mindblowing.

Posted: 04 Apr 2021 11:19 AM PDT Hey everybody, does anyone know if stat upgrades for one faction affect units for another? For example, if I play as China, capture a GLA black market, and buy the AP rockets upgrade, will the Chinese tank hunters do more damage? I've been playing this game for over a decade but the other day I realized I've never figured this out. Some upgrades obviously don't carry over — for example only US infantry get the chem suits if you buy that upgrade while owning another faction but is this true for all the upgrades? [TO DEV TEAM] Ideas about modding support of C&C Remastered Posted: 04 Apr 2021 06:52 AM PDT To Development Team: Considering that maybe someone has mentioned these ideas somewhere or even contacted to the development team, I still want to print the thoughts here as feedback. 1.Mapping support improvement Over last few years I've tried mainly developed some RA2 and RA3 unofficial maps, I found that both Final Alert 2 and World Builder are all inefficient at graphic( e.g. cliff tiles, overlay, layout, ...) editing, which made me think that Westwood/EALA developers can get a map done more faster in some other way. If so, can the map editor get close to you designers in efficiency this time? 2.Modding support improvement. from type to type, from object to object, ... It seems that because of some reason, games, like C&C2, RA2 and Yuri's Revenge didn't have much time to be more perfect. There's one thing that I confused. Could the game program code have more extensity for modding? E.g. I made a AOE effect as primary weapon for Ants like Chaos Drone does, however nothing happened when firing. I tested for several hours till midnight and finally found that the weapon logic is VEHICLE ONLY. We have many super weapon types since Tiberian Sun but we can't even customize a new type. We have many weapon properties such as heal, charge, however we can't even make them coexist on one unit as primay and secondary weapon, or apply them to a building. It is said that C&C95 and RA95 can't even realize anything above. That's what I mean supporting modding from type/object/logic to type/object/logic as possible to make modding meaningful. You see that Warcraft III handles this well so that community can even create almost brand new gameplays. (AlexB's Ares executable module has expanded a bit, but most of limitations and bugs still can't be avoided.) 3.Protection for community creations Some fans may want to protect their creation assets from being re-edited inappropriately/in unauthorized way if he or she made a great deal. Even if RA3 is extremely complex in code editing, unofficial maps and textures are still unprotected. This can be evil to the player community. I'm not a programmer and looking forward any idea to solve this. You know that not all fans of the franchise since 2000 or earlier have more spare time to make community creations. So can you do them a favor to make creation progress easier? As you cooperate with third-party development teams like OpenRA and CNCNet, I wish this time you will have chance to do some jobs to lead the game go further even if leaders of EA killed your update support someday. Would you support a cnc tiberium universe reboot? Posted: 03 Apr 2021 08:22 PM PDT Let's be honest, the entire timeline and story would need a reboot to make it make sense and become approachable. Cnc1 started in the 90s and modern times and from that point on, technology went into futuristic and extra futuristic magic category. The timeline doesn't make sense in terms of what is happening to the world, to the technological advances, to the ideology behind GDI and Nod, the story of Kane, Cabal etc. There are also no main characters to the story except for kane, who is an antagonist. To make it simple, I would make tiberium series a dark modern times/scifi category, where tiberium would represent the problems we have with ecological destruction and climate change, Nod would represent religious and nationalist extremism, and GDI would represent the worlds governments basically. Kane would be an alias. A new messiah. And a new antagonist. Timelines and technology would remain in a hypothetical trilogy in the same era. So mechs would be experimental units. You would have modern warfare units such as drones, artillery, etc. Basically, imagine CnC Generals but with tiberium setting. Environmental collapse would be a major factor. So you wouldn't want to send your troops on an attack when an ion storm is raging at day and especially not at night. Mutated creatures and creeps would be found in the map and they would be extra dangerous in night time. Taking them out would provide experience for your units or your hero unit/generals powers. I would also take away the concept of a deus ex machina saving the world like the Tacitus. I would prefer if GDI maintained control or fought tiberium the way with sonic emitters. No change in that regard. There would be little sense in trying to accelerate the setting to extinction or provide a magical tool or tech to save the world. Another problem would be Nods tiberium worship. It makes no sense for nod to worship tiberium or find worshippers of it. People would hate that destructive resource once they are affected. Nobody would side with nod. Nobody who is desperate would want to spread tiberium. So I would switch it up. GDI would be interested in seeding tiberium and controlling it, while Nod sees tiberium as God's punishment and resent GDI for it. Kane would be the messiah who is sent by "God" to help the world get rid of tiberium and cure the "disease". Basically, tiberium would be like the Markers from Deadspace. And Kane would know greedy people or GDI would try to take advantage of tiberium instead of destroying it. Nod would be also the side trying to punish the Global power, GDI, for their profit Motive and nod would be the side that would want to destroy tiberium completely. Either thst or nod would be completely bonkers like the Unitologisrs in dead space and the forgotten, a third faction, would be for destroying tiberoum So in essence, nod would be the anti tiberium side or at least anti globalist side and more like the GLA than some techno terrorist faction. Nod would be low tech while GDI would be high tech. Nod would have some very weird specific high tech stuff like Obelisks and other weaponry that would be reverse engineered Scrin tech or not. TLDR: The setting needs a reboot for less cliches, to make sense in universe wise, and the setting needs to remain in one era. Nod should be like the GLA, GDI should be the ones who want to spread and control tiberium. You know, just like World governments nowadays want to control Oil,gdi wants to control tiberium. And tiberium is a suicide pact technology. You cannot control it. Just like fossil fuels, the more you use it, the more it kills you. Nod would be either fanatical death cult or eco terrorist focused and maybe a third faction would be for destruction of tiberium or eco terrorist. [link] [comments] |
