A thank you, to those who worked so hard Posted: 10 Mar 2020 10:02 AM PDT I'd like to thank everyone involved in this remaster process, but also the original Westwood Team. Red Alert was the first computer game I ever played. My father passed away when I was very young, and I didn't have many friends growing up. So when I discovered my uncle's Red Alert, Counterstrike, and Aftermath box set in the late 90's; I was blown away. I couldn't believe it, it was everything my over-stimulation craving little ADHD mind ever wanted 😂 whenever I was at home I'd draw pictures of armies and bases I'd want to build, I divided my Micro Machines into Allied and Soviet forces, and I constantly wanted to go back to Nanny's just to play on her banged up old office '98. Red Alert gave me the escape and friendship I needed as a child, and still to this very day brings me joy and comfort. I've hacked, Jerry rigged, and overcranked each one of my PCs and Macs to install RA over the years, with fleeting success. (Thank god for Origin, although still no RA2!😪) But C&C installed something in me as well. On one hand I felt that the FMV's were like they were straight out of my own mind and creativity, and on the other I had developed a fanaticism with the Soviet aesthetic. Once I finished school I went into filmmaking and graduated uni having written my dissertation on Soviet cinema and it's unique differences being an art form that developed under a different economic structure, and a 15minute grad Film about a Russian Cosmonaut who's mission to the moon leaves him drifting off into space; effectively launching my filmmaking career. Red Alert, literally, shaped my life. So I am truly touched to see this remaster being done correctly, with the right attention to detail care and commitment, by those who should be doing it. It feels like everyone is coming together to help an old friend. And I think it's that feeling behind all this that makes the phrase, "Welcome Back, Commander" so much more special and appropriate. I feel like I've got my friend back because people cared enough; and that I wouldn't be where I am today, without Westwood. Thank you. Thank you to all of those who have worked so hard on this. No matter what your contribution is, you made this happen. [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Mar 2020 07:23 AM PDT I hope that they remaster generals and red alert 2 these were the games I grew up on and still play today. I was to young to play the original CNC games. [link] [comments]
I just have one observation about the new graphics Posted: 10 Mar 2020 01:59 PM PDT Holy shit the ore generators in Red Alert are actual ore mines with actual mine rails going into them, not just random blobs/hills of ore with some brown earth in them. My mind is incapable of believing this is true. 100s of hours into Red Alert and I never even considered this. [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Mar 2020 02:43 PM PDT Thank you for bringing back our childhood game back on glorious 4K Graphics! Just wondering if there will be some extra features in this masterpiece (New/Unreleased units, unique skirmish mode in which you can use any of the 4 factions, TB desert terrain for RA, play skirmish offline, etc.) Finally, hope to release this masterpiece on PS4. The rivals gambit (or how EA has been playing 6d chess with us and why i'm fine with that) Posted: 10 Mar 2020 04:01 PM PDT My crackpot theory goes like this. Ea released C&C rivals in order to test whether or not people still cared about Command & Conquer as a brand. My evidence is as follows. *C&CRivals was announced at E3 despite it being a paint by numbers mobile game. *The remaster was announced I think three to six months afterwards. Enough time to get enough things in order to make a teaser and lay the starting groundwork perhaps? *The remaster was announced only after C&C fans *Saw it at E3 *got pissed *made their desire for a Real C&C game clear enough that it couldn't be missed or mistaken *and calmed down enough that they could announce the remaster to an ecstatic fanbase and not a bitter one. So in summary, EA if this was all according to plan give who ever came up with it a raise and... I don't know some cupcakes. And if this WAS a complete accident get cupcakes anyway because the dev team deserves them. (tldr: ea pulled off a gambit worthy of Kane himself and it might have been by accident.) Any chance for a console version of C&C remastered? Posted: 10 Mar 2020 02:21 PM PDT For all of us who started it all with awesome PS1 games? :D Radial menus from Kane's Wrath and Red Alert 3 would work wonders here, too... PC first of course, but that's a given and it's coming soon. [link] [comments] |
