How would you react on a C&C Battlefield/Battlefront game concept?

    Posted: 11 Apr 2020 04:02 AM PDT

Hi, first time here. I've been thinking since EA owns Battlefield, Battlefront what about a new FPS C&C game, since we had Renegade pretty cool game. You play on big scale maps, you can choose all different types of soldiers like infantry, grenadier, engineer... and pilot vehicles when avaliable to spawn in or purchase with points. You spawn on your barracks there can be multiple on your base or in your war factory in case of vehicles, you could also spawn on Barracks and head to War Factory to pick up a vehicle. All this big war environments with C&C lore.

    5 Star General

    Posted: 11 Apr 2020 10:56 AM PDT

    Hello

A couple of years ago(~2),I found a mod called 5 Star General for Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour.

It had, I believe a Commander in Chief General which had the B-2 Spirit and a B-1 Bomber which could be upgraded to be loaded with tactical nukes.

Anyway, I remembered about this fun little mod today while watching some videos and I tried to find it online, but I had no luck whatsoever.

There's almost no mention of it. It was a one file mod, that you just had to copy into the install directory. Super simple and I had tons of fun with it.

So, if anyone remembers this or knows where to find it, please reach out! I remember it was something like 25 Mb in size.

    Thank you

Who would love an ability (in future games) to see things from a units point of view?

    Posted: 11 Apr 2020 04:47 AM PDT

I realize Renegade did this of course. But I mean a game where its fully RTS but you can click any unit and see what they see. Just for fun. Or maybe even control the unit. I think a game like that would work better with the technology we have today as opposed to back then.

    Tiberium Catastrophe

If the Tiberium War was real, what unit would you want to pilot?

For GDI it'd have to be the Kodiak and for Nod, the Stealth Tank.

C&C Red Alert: Able Archer - Total Conversion for the original RA95.

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 05:27 PM PDT

It's been far too long. Time for nostalgia, but with a twist.

So the rumour goes, Red Alert was supposed to be Cold War gone hot. I've spent countless hours changing the game to something completely different.

The total conversion attempts to be as realistic, wile maintaining balance. It is still, at the end of the day, a game with hard engine limitations that I needed to work around. All the weapon systems in game are researched as best as I could, and balanced/named accordingly.

I got two patches out since the early release in mid 2018, but patch 1.2 has changed a lot.

Don't take my word for it. Here are some in game teasers.

Build your base how you see fit. Allied screenshot Soviet screenshot

Ever want to see Iowa class battleships have a go at Kirov class battlecruisers? Now you can. In Red Alert. Naval Combat

    Aerial combat? Why not!

The conversion is a simple copy and paste into a TFD RA installation. C&C Red Alert Able Archer is confirmed to work with C&C The First Decade with TFD 1.03 rev4. Red Alert's version should be 3.03. It may work with other versions of the game, but may encounter bugs.

Most of the campaigns work as well. Although, beating Soviet Mission 14 is...quite difficult.

Here is the link to Cncnet's forums, where you will find the download links and more information. https://forums.cncnet.org/topic/8885-cc-red-alert-able-archer/

[RA2] I need help with identifying a mod I played with around 15 years ago.

    Posted: 11 Apr 2020 01:10 AM PDT

Hi! This quarantine period has given me lots of time to reminisce my childhood. One of my fondest and most vivid memories was playing RA2 in a small room that's glowing orange from the sunrise.

...however, I also vividly remember a strange feature that makes me think I played a mod all along: Prism Towers on water. Was there a mod that did this? If my estimates are correct, it should be a mod that was created before 2008.

It also had "Who Let The Dogs Out" in its tracklist, although that may have been the addition of my uncle who was the one who installed the game, and not necessarily part of the mod.

Thanks for potentially helping me solve my childhood memory mystery!

C&C 3 Tiberium Wars is too bloody hard, I just give up.

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 06:35 PM PDT

I've tried so much to "get good", I've played all three Dark Souls for literally hundreds of hours for crying out loud. I love a legitmate challenge, I've beaten all Starcraft II campaigns on Hard, but it's just the rush...

Units are not worth what you pay for them, have no staying power and massively overly aggressive and get into pulled into fights with a campaign AI that blatantly cheats and is in no way shape or form being dumbed down for the sake of anything remotely resembling fairness.

I'm convinced the AI isn't made dumb to your position ever, they don't pay for units and pull zero punches, even on easy. E-A-S-Y. Yet for all things everything I read online makes me feel like I am mostly alone.

So what is the deal? Has RTS gotten better since these days? Am I spoiled by Starcraft and the like? Do I just suck? Really frustrated because I love the Tiberium Sun universe, but this game makes me wanna crack my head on my desk like a bloody fucking egg because I looked away from my giant blob of spammed units for two seconds.

Friend and I recently signed up to play Generals online, and not we're getting spam for old pwned passwords. Anyone else?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:23 PM PDT

Edit: probably not at all related to C&C, but the virus scan hit on the gentool installer of still concerning. More on the scam email here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/fxi476/not_sure_if_scam_but_someone_has_my_actual/

Old info: About 3 weeks ago, my coworker and I recently reinstalled Generals from the Ultimate Collection and registered with Cnc Online and Revora with whatever we needed to get playing.

Now in the last couple days we both started getting boilerplate spam on those same email addresses (mine hotmail, his gmail) we registered with that has passwords in the subject line. I freaked out because the email I got mentioned a Windows login password I do actually use on a PC at home, and they said it got it from a browser hijack exploit from some shady porn site and that they recorded my watching some videos and would send it to all my contacts, and installed a key logger. Well I know that second part wasn't true, and would've thought it was a complete bluff except I did recently hook up a 14 year old webcam for WFH, whereas I had never connected one to the system before.

Anyway, I didn't think the BTC ransom threat was credible, but the password association was freaking me out. I haven't reused any passwords for years since using a manager, but this was a potential vulnerability. I asked my friend and he said he got a similar email but worded very differently, BUT the password they claimed to have was his gmail password that got owned in a Steam leak some 6-7 years ago and definitely want relevant to anything he used now. That made me think maybe my current desktop password at home actually was also my email password at least 6-7 years ago as well, although I didn't remember that begging the case. So in the end we just think they got our email addresses from some leak and had super old PWs that may have been associated, and are trying some wide cast phishing.

But the timing is suspicious to us both signing up on Revora. Has anyone else signed up for CnC Online / Revora recently and received any blackmail spam? Just in case I used a separate computer to change my password manager's master password, and then my gmail, Dropbox, and hotmail passwords. Can't be too careful I guess.

As an additional note, Windows Defender on my machine tried to warn that Gentool was a Trojan when I downloaded it, but my friend's system didn't report any issues. It might even be in their FAQ...
