BOTH Games Started on Easy but then REstarted are then saved as moderate difficulty

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 12:10 PM PDT

Try this. Start any game on the EASY setting. Save it. Then RESTART and save that. Go to LOAD. You can see that the EASY game you just saved is marked at the NORMAL play level which is significantly harder. There is no way to adjust game difficulty in the options or prior to restarting. [This bug happens in both C & C & Red Alert Remastered ]

I hate Nod, the mega minded terrorists!

ONE HOUR AND FORTY MINUTES. That's how long the final GDI mission took on normal. Endless delays on resources, that one turret by the bridge always being rebuilt. The nukes taking out my 6 advanced guard towers and a tireless careful slog towards the temple facing an unyielding tide of troops vs my limited forces as frequently replacing them was near enough impossible!

I go to take down the obelisk with my Orcas, but I should have realised my folly then and there when they simply sold the tower. I should have seen it coming. I should have made a quick save. But nope, two MLRS's shoot at the temple to weaken it for the Ion cannon victory and.... THEY SELL THE FUCKING TEMPLE! All that work! Undone in an instant! Sure I could go back around an hour or so and slowly rebuild the wall of eight mammoth tanks placed at their base entrance, all turned sideways so they will actually use their tusk missiles in enemy infantry. BUT THOSE MONSTERS!

I worked so hard, and in the end it didn't even matter. I finally finished the GDI campaign after all these years and.... Kane made my victory so bitter-sweet!

    Entertaining bug in C&C Remastered

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 06:51 AM PDT

I'm not sure what happen but as soon as a gap generator entered the screen everything went to god mode and can't die except for infantry which can still be crushed.

Edit: Also as a test i went to see if i could capture, I can still cause damage to buildings with engineers and cap them.

Red Alert: Light vs. medium vs. heavy tank

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 06:13 AM PDT

    Tested 1v1s with no microing.

light tank vs medium tank --> medium tank survives with about 16-20 % HP

light tank vs heavy tank --> heavy tank survives with about 50% HP

medium tank vs heavy tank --> heavy tank survivies with about 16-20 % HP

    Like tank is 700

    Medium tank is 800

Heavy tank is 854 (900 for ukraine)

conclusion: The heavy tank is the most cost effective tank but it also has a higher skill floor and a higher skill ceiling. Why? The firerate is slower since it's a double barrel. In tank battles, it's all about microing your tanks and try to click the enemy tanks which are not in motion in this exact second. If you perfect this with heavy tanks, they have insane one shot potential even in small numbers basically killing most of the enemy tanks with just one burst/volley while you often need two or even three bursts with medium tanks for one heavy or heavy tank. But they also leave greater room to fuck up, because if you completely miss this volley on a moving target, this is way worse than missing a couple of shots with med tanks since they fire a lot faster.

Also the light tank is the least cost effective. It costs 12,5 % less than the medium tank but will leave the medium tank with the above mentioned 16-20% HP. And the extra speed they offer don't really do much. You can pretty much dodge bullets and get dealt almost no damage at all with medium tanks. So light tanks MIGHT be useful for early CY - powerplant rushes where just one extra tank can make the difference. But they're a bad choice past minute 5 and also if you're not planning to rush at all, don't build them.

Same goes for the heavy tank regarding speed. It's just slightly slower than the med tank, but still too fast to actually make a difference in tank battles. You can dodge bullets just fine as with the lighter tanks. This is also why it's pointless to choose ukraine. The speed doesn't make up for the higher costs.

EDIT: Keep in mind this test was done with GERMANY. Germany has a 10% damage bonus and is the only viable allies faction to me for this reason. France has a higher rate of fire. This might be good for people who're not that good microing. 10% armor for england also shouldn't be what you're looking for. In a battle with more than 10 tanks, even the england tanks will be a oneshot anyways. And greece, turkey and spain are completely out, because they don't have their bonuses applied as labeled. They literally have no bonus at all and thus are inferior to any faction. It was bugged in the original game and it's still bugged.

In RA Allied Mission 4 (the one with Tanya destroying bridges) is there a way to save the medic and engineer who are stuck in the back of the Soviet base?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 08:49 AM PDT

If you detonate the barrels, you kill them.

If you use the Artillery to destroy the flame tower, the enemy infantry goes and shoots them. They cannot get away from the barrels, nor can they defend themselves.

Are you meant to lose them, or is there a way to keep them alive?

Does anyone know if there are any projects out there that allow unit changes? That was something I loved to create new playstyles for me and my friends.

How are the end screen totals calculated?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 06:47 AM PDT

When completing a mission in either Command & Conquer or Red Alert you get a screen with a highscore field.

I've noticed leadership is basically the amount of units lost/ total units. Also your collected credits have no impact on your highscore. Aircraft from specials count as lost units.

But what about efficiency, what does that mean?

Do civilians count as kills in Red Alert?
