After playing remaster I just had to go get this from my closet

Not sure if this has been posted before - I'm playing through Red Alert for the first time since learning some Russian a while back and I noticed the books in the corner during the 'Soviet 4' briefing, which seem to spell 'Brett Ass' in Russian, possibly alluding to Brett Sperry, who created C&C.

[Just a quick reminder / You should know] You can SELL vehicles in your repair bay.

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 11:37 AM PDT

[YSK = You should know (it's a subreddit for all the things not explicitly qualifying for LPT / "life pro tips"]

This is a minor thing I've seen also veteran C&C players forget. You can sell vehicles in a repair bay, just drive them in and hover with the sell icon over them. In TD the symbol changes to a green dollar then. If you are unsure, wait for the tooltip naming the unit/building. (in C&C TS/FS the dollar symbol gets very small instead)

This brings in more money than selling a lot buildings (e.g. a reffinery brings only in 300 credits since 2000 - 1400 (cost for a harvester) = 600. And 300 is 50% of that.)

In a later GDI mission for example (saving Moebius) you get a small base and a few starting units. If you don't need the MLRS, sell it. Don't need the mammoth and want to rely on more medium tanks? Sell it.

The enemy destroyed your harvester and you only have 1300 coins? Drive a Humvee in and SELL it :)

Btw. I would LOVE to provide screenshots but both, Steam and my Radeon recording/screenshot tool remove the mouse from screenshots. Which isn't very helpful here... and uploading a photo taken from the screen, from my phone? urgh...

C&C Remaster sold well, minimum 500 000 copies. That should be good, it's "crappy" numbers for EA standards, but this should be a good number.

[Tip/Hint] Tired of your grenadiers killing themself because a vehicle/infantry drove too close and/or the grenadiers were moving and walked too close?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 12:50 PM PDT

Just use the "stop" button more frequently. It's probably one of the most helpful buttons in TD.

Grenadiers, especially when already walking have the urge to selfkill. When they get in range OR an enemy gets in range, press "stop" (I placed it on shift+S to prevent accidentially pressing it) and they will stop moving. If an enemy is in range, they attack now.

Goes also for attacking stationary targets.

This works for tanks and other units too btw. and saved me a LOT infantry.

[Tip] How to make your Tiberium... Limitless

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 02:49 PM PDT

I hear a lot of newbies and even some vets complaining about currency flow in OG C&C, which compared to red alert, is much harder to manage. I devised a trick as a kid which I still use today.

If you place a few infantry like chess pieces checkered across the field the field will keep replenishing itself at a much faster rate, almost giving you unlimited Tiberium.

Here's a couple pictures of the field just before I run out, compared to later in the mission when I'm just finishing up.

Just a little trick to help, especially for those playing on the ridiculous hard setting like me.

If the game sells well enough, do you think we can expect updates like chat lobbys and better leaderboards?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 03:39 PM PDT

    In reference to C&C remastered.

Pretty please. Before you move onto the next game, just get this one good enough to where people want to stay.
