Remaster Update and July Beta Patch Posted: 15 Jul 2020 10:07 AM PDT Fellow Command & Conquer fans, Today we are inviting you to try a Beta version of our in-development patch, which most importantly includes an early version of LAN Play. Our goal in sharing this Beta version is to get your feedback on LAN Play and ensure this feature is living up to your expectations. We're looking for both qualitative and technical feedback on the feature, especially with regards to playing multiplayer LAN games with Mods enabled (either locally or over VPN). We reinforce this is an early version, and certain elements (including AI) may not work correctly in LAN play just yet. Everyone who owns the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection on Steam is able to participate in this Beta version of the game. Please follow these steps to gain access:
Please note, there are several dozen other improvements in this Beta version, which we'll list out in more detail when the patch is officially released. However, please keep an eye out for these key items:
Please note, while playing in the Beta version, online play will be disabled and certain mods may not be compatible. Please play the Beta version and alter Launch options with caution and understand there may be a risk. We're looking forward to hearing your feedback on LAN Play and other improvements. Cheers, Jim Jimtern [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Jul 2020 03:43 PM PDT Welcome Generals. Welcome to the C&C Generals Zero Hour 1v1 World Series 2020 Finals This is the time and place where Legends are born - or reborn. Sir ExCaL, the true legend from the United Kingdom, came a long way back from the year 2010 to reclaim the crown of Generals Zero Hour. He is ready to deliver the Ownage necessary. Rengo, ExCaL's Fan No1, has his back where ever he goes and everyone will go mental once ExCaL gets hold onto his Mouse and Keyboard for this event. Big BoYcaH, located in Pennsylvania, USA and the last years World Series finalist, did the next jump in superior skill and is ready to sack in the trophy. Not just his body was trained to become as hard as steel, but also his spirit is now walking among the gods between heaven and earth. He became a force of nature to fear for every mortal being. Sunday 19 July - 16:00 GMT The Program:

Posted: 15 Jul 2020 11:34 AM PDT Hey guys, I love playing as GDI, but playing online I feel like a complete noob at my current ranking (~250) when playing vs Nod. If I get a map with tight chokepoints, I MIGHT be able to keep my war factory alive long enough to build a few humvees before getting sniped by a bike drive-by. Then they wreck my harvesters. Then I'm done. Is multiplayer balance just broken? My current build order: -Power -Barracks -Ref -Ref -Weapons factory -More refs I've tried massing grenadiers early game, works well enough to keep away early buggy rush, but just a couple flame troops leads to instant death, plus they are too slow to defend harvies from attack PLUS they die on Tiberium. I've tried rushing Weapons Fact and spamming Hummvees, they are fast but damage output is garbage compared to a mix of bike+buggy and usually can't kill an enemy force fast enough to save my tank factory from getting steamrolled. Right now I'm trying a balanced build, building a few Grens early game to defend then transitioning to a mix of about 1 medium tank per 3 Hummvees. But Nod just builds units SO much faster and they move faster too. I feel like I am maybe playing GDI wrong, need to focus more on turtling, but then I remember that Tib runs out immediately and base defenses don't help save my harvesters from getting sniped. Any help from pro GDI players? [link] [comments]
Everyone harps on about innovation and the next best thing. I just want a new but classic C&C game. Posted: 14 Jul 2020 06:07 PM PDT I know C&C was always a big innovator, up until EA took over anyway, but I mean what's wrong with just plain old C&C mechanics? You know, build a base, collect and fight over valuable resources. Cool and unique units. Big maps to explore. I've always thought exploration would be a good area to expand on, interesting things to find other than just crates. Not the small one dimensional maps in Tib Wars but like the big maps in Tib Sun where you had options. Just classic C&C. It doesn't need to be pushing the envelope all the time like Starcraft or whatever it is. It just needs to have everything that makes a C&C game. Preferably in the Tiberium universe, not some boring generic Generals shit, and not Red Alert because that ideas been run into the ground. Or maybe Red Alert if done right? But the Tiberium universe has an immense amount of potential. GDI and Nod are both very interesting and unique factions. The concept of the earth being contaminated by a mysterious alien substance with these two nuanced factions fighting over it is a really great one. There's potential for a lot of nuance that was lost in Tib Wars that could be brought back. The Forgotten, CABAL/LEGION, Scrin (maybe a splinter faction of the Scrin, like rebels, they could act as a counter to the inevitable plot dead end of a full invasion). I really want a new C&C game that expands on all the amazing things that Tiberian Sun established. EA should just sell the franchise to an indie developer, I bet it would be great as long as they understood the source material, it could be a labour of love like it was under Westwood. They should sell it to Petroglyph. I'm dreaming.. [link] [comments]

New Player on Red Alert 1 ve 2 and 3 Posted: 15 Jul 2020 10:51 AM PDT People talk about Red Alert 1 being more serious than 2 and 3, and .... as a new player to C&C .... I don'f feel that is the case. Or at the least RA has some fairly silly things. I will disregard not having Soviet sounding Engies or Tanya, but the fact that the mining mechanic literally use fields of gold and fields of gems makes it pretty silly for a WW2 era RTS, more than sticking super science and anarchistic tech into WW2 I can understand being kinda annoyed that RA 2 & 3 are a lot more American Focused, and losing the WW2 feel, and that RA 3 makes the nuclear bomb not existing the lynchpin for having the Japanese brand a super power. But that's like more of a logical stretch than being silly. [link] [comments]
