    Petroglyph shares Red Alert 2 Remaster/Remake question

    On facebook, Petroglyph has shared a post asking if fans would prefer a remake over a remaster for Red Alert 2. While this might mean nothing, I find it highly unlikely that a studio that is currently in the spotlight for taking C&C to the next step, would carelessly repost something like this if they are not at least interested in making it. I suspect if they got the greenlight from EA, they would be in the first steps of developping it right about now, so the timing checks out.

    So far, Remake is ahead of remaster. What do you guys think?

    Ultimate disappointment - CnC 4

    Wow. Just wow. After years of avoiding it due to universal panning, I finally played Command & Conquer 4 (after first spending the last couple years replaying through all the previous) i made it was far as the first mission after the tutorial, and gave had to stop. It's just...so bad. So so bad. I hope there's a full campaign/FMV video on YouTube, cause that's where I'll be going now to at least see how they finish the storyline I've been engrossed in since 1995. It's just...so sad.

    Update: So I watched the full 45 minutes or so of both storylines, pretty inauspicious ending for the series, considering the epicness of Sun/Wars. Can't decide what's worse, how bad this all actually is - even considering i had seen the reviews and fallout from when it came out, it still managed to defy expectations - or the fact that that's probably the final proper CnC game, with or without Joe Kucan.

    How to purchase RA 2 for a xmas present?

    I am trying to purchase RA 2 for my mom as her christmas present. She's 59 years old and I used to see her play this game and Caesar III a lot when I was growing. She hasn't been playing for a while. We had a pretty old computer that used to be able to run the discs but it no longer works. We thought it was the computer at first but I'm suspecting it's the discs problem due to its old age. The discs do not work on any external readers or new desktops. I found Caesar III on Steam but I can not find RA 2. Is the only way to install RA 2 is through origin and purchase the ultimate collection? She doesn't play that many different games, just the RA 2 so I figured maybe someone can point me to the right direction before I create an origin account for a piece of one game.

    Do we still think an open-world FPS-RPG spinoff set during Tib Sun/Wars with you starting as a civilian could work?

    A while back somebody on /v/ had the idea of "what if we basically had fallout:new vegas and stalker: shadow of cherynobyl, but with the Tib. Sun aesthetic?", This actually raises a lot of questions and lets us see the universe from another perspective: at the lowest rungs of society affected by these conflicts; and you either raising the ranks of GDI or NOD depending on your actions; There would theoretically be multiple towns which would be GDI or NOD aligned and presence there could increase or decrease depending; After a while, hotly contested zones would have certain factors and depending on who you're with; you might actually see some of the militia being given certain roles like baseline military police and/or assisting with general labor of reconstruction. Eventually you get to the point where you start working in or defending/having shootouts in these contested areas as well; with confessors or GDI's equivalent personally seeking you out; either to hunt you down and eliminate you if you are part of the opposing faction; or to put you through a trial for your promotion and bestow unto you the proper authorities and equipment for that faction- respective to your rank.

    Yes, yes. Every C&C game has you as the commander or in renegade's case, the commando; But we don't have one where we have not yet attained the proper clearances to be one.

    Hello everyone! It is time to release our holiday patch. Stop by and have some fun with us during this season as we shoot it out on the new Christmas map!

    3.5.2.0 Changelog

    Christmas 2020 (New map!)

    • It is said to be a downright colorful place where magic dwells and niceness is rewarded.
    • Features a Refinery, War Factory, Barracks, Service Depot, Ore Silo, and basic defenses.
    • Allies harvest candy, Soviets harvest coal.
    • Some new map decorations, including northern lights, reindeer, and some of our brand new snowy pine assets.
    • Map is Tech Level 2, which is similar to the tech available on Canyon River (minus Soviet Rangers).
    • Features Santa-capped Titans that boast a powerful 120mm cannon. Paired with this fearsome weapon is some soothing secondary fire. Regardless of War Factory status, they are purchasable for $1100 via terminals on shipping containers next to the Ore Silo in each base, and they will be delivered by air.
    • Bots are supported.

    General/Misc

    • Sidebar purchases now default to the map's theater. No longer do players need to cycle through the sidebar to select the appropriate unit camoflage. Alternate camoflages are still optionally available.
    • Dynamic bullet decals on vehicles are now enabled. Players wishing to disable this option for performance or other reasons can remove the entry "DynamicDecals=true" in hud.ini.
    • A bug that granted duplicate kill messages and points for destroying grounded aircraft has been fixed.
    • Bots now ignore cargo trucks, and won't sit in them endlessly.

    HUD

    • Changed ingame chat font and kill feed font to DejaVu Sans. Kill icons have been moved to their own section in the font file, which means the old characters that had been replaced (such as "|", "[", and "]") are available once more.
    • The kill feed is now separated from the chat section. It is located above the radar on the HUD.
    • The sneak icon "eye" has been given a strikethrough to more clearly indicate that the player can't be seen.
    • The chat box is slightly less wide so it no longer overlaps with the player list.
    • Ants and partisans can no longer sneak on the radar. The sneak icon on the HUD will always enable for radar-invisible infantry such as the thief. It will also be enabled as long as the enemy's radar is dead or jammed.
    • Weapons with tracking now have a 0.5 second delay to stop locking on after the player stops aiming at the target.

    Infantry

    Volkov

    • Normal run speed has been set to 0.75 (was 0.85), and his ability to sprint has returned.
    • AT Hand Cannon rate of fire has been set to 1 (was slower at 0.75).
    • AP Hand Cannon rate of fire has been increased to 2 (was slower at 1.5).
    • There are now 3 napalm grenades per clip (was 2).

    Vehicles

    APC

    • The Browning weapon model has been replaced.
    • Removed the extremely dirty look from the forest camo variant.
    • Upscaled the textures from 1k to 2k.
    • The shovel is now modeled on, and not just textured on.
    • New eject shell.
    • New treads.

    Hind

    • Weapon model has been updated, and now spins when firing. This will be most noticeable in first person camera view.

    Map Changes

    Coastal Influence

    • Added a ramp up to the hill in the middle of the side route.
    • Added bot support.

    Guard Duty

    • Fixed floating trees near Soviet base.

    Lunar Paradox

    • Fixed errors with scripts regarding missing building controllers.
    • The sky is darker and the fog less noticeable.
    • Made the moon cliff textures less stretchy.

    Pacific Threat

    • Improved AI behavior around the Soviet Barracks and AA Guns at the Naval Yard.

    Ridge War

    • Added bot support.

    River Raid

    • Sank the tunnels under each of the bases by 5 meters so the bots won't try to repair the Service Depots from there.

    Stormy Valley

    • Added bot support.
    • Made flight ceiling softer.
    • Fixed a terrain texture seam between the Allied base and the infantry path in the middle.

    To The Core

    • Added bot support.
    • Added a bridge over the river, in front of the Tesla Coil.
    • The C4 no-placement zone by the Soviet Ore Silo has been corrected.

    Zama

    • Added bot support.
