Imagine if C&C was a Roguelike Posted: 11 May 2021 12:11 PM PDT Replaying the first two games on the Remaster made me realize that the Roguelike genre might be a perfect fit for a potential reboot of C&C. Two things in particular stand out:
So the premise is this: You start as a no-name commander in a random territory and begin basic missions with a limited tech tree, as with any C&C game. But you soon start getting optional side objectives in addition to your main objectives. Instead of simply getting newer units to play with like grenadiers, tanks, obelisks, etc., what if they needed to be earned by completing side objectives in prior missions? Basically, the game entrusts newer toys and bigger budgets to commanders that prove themselves by completing as much of each map as possible. There could even be an option to retreat from a mission entirely ala XCOM, whereby you might suffer a penalty. I think it would be really interesting to basically sculpt your potential army for base building missions based on random objectives and your ability to complete them. For example, a mission might have a primary objective of destroying a base to the north, capturing a grenade factory to the east, and/or destroying a base to the northeast. The NE base might grant you a tech credit to improve your faction's tech level by one. The grenade factory might allow you to build grenadiers, despite what faction you are. Or if you already have them, it could give you a discount on them for the rest of the playthrough, and the north base could just be a simple progression that is required to complete the mission as it was the primary objective. Each playthrough could be fairly unique if the maps, objectives, rewards, and enemy bases are randomized. [link] [comments]

Anyone attempted a pure shadow/stealth army Posted: 11 May 2021 04:27 AM PDT Just wanna ask. Has anyone tried doing a match, either multiplayer or AI, that used nothing but stealth units? (Units with disruption pods/cloaking field excluded) [link] [comments]
how did modern 90's military vehicles get into command and conquer red alert 1 Posted: 11 May 2021 01:20 AM PDT while watching red alert 1 videos I've recognised that 90's vehicles like the Abrams and the leopard are on the game which in the time setting would be most probably wrong as without a nazi related ww2 these things would be not developed and Germany would still be the Weimar Republic if the nazis never rose to power [link] [comments]
Getting Mideast Crisis 2 to work? Posted: 11 May 2021 03:16 AM PDT Trying to get MEC2 to work with Steam's Tiberium Wars. Clicking on the MEC2 shortcut (with target edited already) opens the launch splash screen, then nothing happens, which is also what happens if I just open the CNC3 exe in the game folder. So the only way to get the game to launch is through steam and that opens the vanilla game. Any idea how to work around this? [link] [comments]
