Tib. Sun was possibly the best in terms of atmospherics in the series. For me; personally:

    • Improved day-night cycle on all maps; units now have lights built into them which can be toggled; making Day/Night attacks a strategic value; and giving buildable lamp posts, guard towers, etc; a more meaningful point.
    • Additional enviromental effects; Forests and trees can now spread; trees can mutate into blossom trees; Snow can fall and cover the ground, Firestorms can rage across the map, rain can fall, etc.
    • More tiberium based wildlife; adult visceroids can mature into floaters, and multiple floaters can merge into a Veinhole Monster, You can 'capture' groups of tiberium wildlife and herd them with your troops (not controllable) as a viable strategic option, as is suiciding all your infantry into their tib field.
    • Direct terrain manipulation; filling in craters, digging holes, making hills.
    • GDI walkers now have considerable difference in size.
    • GDI modules are now more modular and interchangeable; with the exception of super weapons still requiring to be mounted on the top-tech level building

    For YR/RA2:

More subreddit mods wanted and rules discussion

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 03:04 PM PDT

    Hey commanders,

    Mod applications

The subreddit has grown a lot in the past year and consequently we want to add a mod or two to the team. General duties involve answering mod mail, removing spam, stickying applicable posts and in general just making the subreddit better.

We are looking for someone who can be bothered to do it and treats users politely and with respect. Being active on Discord is preferred but not required. Previous moderating experience is not necessary in the slightest but having some (any) activity on this subreddit is.

If you're interested send us a modmail with a short introduction, your time zone and most active hours and feel free to include whatever else you feel is relevant.

    Other stuff

We've kept this subreddit basically a free-for-all basically forever. We essentially only remove blatant commercial spam and duplicate posts and in the 8 years I've been a mod here we've banned a grand total of maybe 2 accounts that were not bots or spam burner accounts. The overall policy of moderators being janitors and not curators will not be changing - that's what the voting buttons are for.

Recently we have received a lot of comments that the subreddit is cluttered with low quality and low effort posts. For the longest time we barely managed to fully populate the front page in a week so there were no other posts to drown out in the first place. This has changed and is now the new normal. Some have suggested a no-memes policy or similar and as discussed above that's not happening. However less draconian policies are not out of the question if that's something the userbase wants. So we'd like to raise the discussion of whether you feel there is a problem in the first place and if so what if anything you'd like to see change in that regard. By all means share your thoughts in this post. Also feel free to bring up any other subreddit or meta-issue that's on your mind.

Also stay tuned for another announcement this week!

    Minding my own business (TS:WarZone)

Really like to spend my time minding my own business. And this mod is awesome, for me the best to get the special atmosphère of Tiberian Sun and adjust it to your liking.

    3 Player Idea for C&C

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 01:26 PM PDT

So as I have gone full nostalgia and been playing C&C RA, RA2, and Generals I've been thinking it might be really fun if 3 people could play as one team.

    Player One - Base/Support

    • Base building and defenses
    • Resource Gathering / Allocating
    • Superweapons and Air Support

    Player two - Infantry

    • Building Infantry and controlling Infantry

    Player 3 - Armor

    • Building and controlling Tanks and vehicles

I think it could be really fun to focus only on one aspect and need to communicate with your teammates to make sure you won. I know other games have done similar things, World In Conflict comes to mind now but I think it would be a lot of fun in something liek RA2 and Generals.

How do I make walls in the World Builder? (CNC3)

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 11:40 AM PDT

I have this idea for a map where you fight down the middle of a massive hallway of walls and you can create new paths by "mining" away at the structure of the map, but I can't figure out an intuitive way to place down walls. It seems like the worldbuilder makes you place each wall individually and rotate it which comes out looking wonky.

    Generals 2 mod

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 05:32 AM PDT

As anyone played the Generals 2 mod for Red Alert 3? I've seen a few gameplay videos, but I was wondering if anyone here as played, and if it's any good? I also think there is one for the original Generals, but my disc copy doesn't work unfortunately.

Would expansions for the remasters be acceptable?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 11:29 AM PDT

Commander; we've noticed an increasing number of our frontline troops coming up with ideas for warfare we had not considered. It would be wise for you to obtain most of this data in a convenient crate; Unfortunately; we seem to have misplaced it in the enemy base. Send a team of your commandos in to retrieve the crate; and we may have something useful in the compilation.

We have detected a GDI commander in the region baring our flag, who would like to defect; which gives us a rare chance at getting out hands on high tech GDI equipment for our purposes. Unfortunately; his construction vehicle is heavily damage and he's retreated into a friendly civilian village in a mobile command unit. Ensure that neither are destroyed by the pursuing hostile GDI commanders, We have also heard of some unusual, hostile wildlife in the region. So be on your guard to protect from them as well. Fortunately the townsfolk are willing to fight for our cause; They might have something special for you provided can secure the village and it's harvesting operations.

Does playing C&C on consoles has that same feeling when playing on PC?

A song is missing in the jukebox? I can't find it.

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 09:37 AM PDT

Hi, I couldn't find if this was posted but I have noticed that a song is missing in the jukebox.

I can find "Airstrike" which is the GDI credits song: Credits - Song

But I can't find "(?) Times" which is the NOD credits song: Credtis - Song

Why is missing? It is my favourite song at all :(

    Regards.

    EDIT:

Ok, reading the comments of the videos on YouTube I have found the reason:

    #4 - Destructible Times

    What a pity.

How to not get completely Ripped apart?

    Posted: 21 Jul 2020 07:33 PM PDT

Can anyone explain some strategies to not get completely destroyed by the ai in command and conquer? I'm pretty bad it seems. I play Kane's Wrath and generals the most. And if anyone is willing to play with me and show me or completely destroy me and move on I wouldn't mind.

Thanks in advanced, Ikea, or whatever my name is on here.

Noob Mapmaker's first Official Generals Zero Hour Map: Blue Moon Highway (Night)

Noob Mapmaker's first Official Generals Zero Hour Map: Blue Moon Highway (Night)

Download link here (Files in question are subject to updates when they come via announcement): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fP_L831hCkV0X0-Cmhrx1kkSCkXQgXIi?usp=sharing

    -- -- --

Lore of the Map: Welcome to Blue Moon Highway, General, a stomping ground for transit.

Transit between where you ask, General? Well, between two different worldly extremes. One filled with Dystopia, and one filled with freedom. It's been a good long while since this land had saw any action, and it had been decades since the last big battle between FreedomVille and Dystopia City. The fortresses you and another General take command of are the same fortresses that the lead generals of Freedomville and Dystopia City fought from. As many bloody battles had occurred between the two warring places of refuge.

But as unknown generals from far off lands of today, and seeking to satiate your young skirmish careers against another General or an AI, this land will see action once again between two completely different factions and the peaceful hilly landscape may never see peace fully.

As for the civillians whom live among the nearby City and Small Town, it is up to you weather their safety is paramount, or of least concern. Either your heart lies in heroism, protecting the defenseless souls from incoming harm... or your heart lies in darkness, to see the destruction of all whom made lives and family there.
    -- -- --
Yes i managed to figure out the Skirmish AI workings, yay me! But as for the details of the map, you get two Tech Oil Derricks, Tech Reinforcement Pads, and two UNUSED Tech Repair Pad (it looks like the American Supply Drop Zone) on the large concrete walls of your bases, why waste an unused building if it works just fine? You also have plenty of guard towers on the edges of those large walls for help in defense as well as bunkers in your VERY tight chokepoints (i didn't realize how tight they were until i struggled to get my units out of my base.) But at least i built those high concrete cliffs to put extra defenses on. Or at least if their sight won't get blocked by the UNUSED Laser fences around your base's perimeter. (I didn't know how to make it so you'd own those walls.) If they become quite an annoyance in funneling forces and blocking defense "sight", go destroy them at your own will.

But the main "shining jewel" for this map is the loads of AI traffic in the map that wanders around the highway and local Dystopia City and Freedomville roads, you don't see that often in skirmish maps! All properly AI civillian traffic that may harm your infantry if they don't look both ways before crossing the road. :P Otherwise you can easily crush them and/or destroy them with vehicles if they bother your infantry alot. Makes me wish i can script something that punishes you for harming civilian population and/or traffic in the map like you attack and destroy a single car and the punishment is that it blows up one of your buildings randomly. If anyone around here with more advanced scripting knowledge can help me with that, i'd be VERY happy to implement it in future updates.

This map may be the first in a series of maps dedicating to an unknown land that is home to my Ivory Specters, where Freedomville and Dystopia City are at never-ending odds with eachother, a land of blue trees and blue moons, it needs a name, and i may make skirmish maps inside Freedomville and Dystopia City Proper too.

Anyway, i hope some of you, the players may give feedback on what to improve upon in this version of the map, as i'll be adding a daytime version of the map sometime soon. Anyway, i hope you enjoy this map i have made. As so, here are a buncha images of the map to see what i have World-Built.

    Base 1 of the map

    Beginning of Dystopia City

Note the large land bridge running over the run down block housing. Dystopia City is notorious for that.

Overview of part of the highway traffic runs on.

    base 2 of the map

    Beginning of Freedomville

    Another view of base 1

    Another view of Dystopia City

Seems like something is being planned in this area of Dystopia City... an uprising perhaps?

    Getting RA 2 to run

    Posted: 21 Jul 2020 08:12 PM PDT

I've heard that the CNCNet patch can make it so RA 2 works well on modern computers. Is that true, and do I need more stuff in addition to the patch?
