Potential Custom Maps for TD Ladder Posted: 17 Aug 2020 09:52 AM PDT Hello Tiberian Dawn Community, Today I would like to present 19 maps that could potentially become additions or replacements to the current quick match ladder pool. Some members from the community have voiced their concerns that while the current ladder maps are a large improvement over the original map pool, there is still something to be desired as far as decision making and strategy. As a result, there has been a community effort to bring together a list of maps, both from C&CNet and also from newer mapmakers in the community, which could potentially replace some of these maps for competitive play. This list of 19 maps has been the joint effort between myself and Lovehandles, and we would appreciate it if the community over the next 2-3 weeks could play these maps in custom 1v1 games and provide their feedback. We are hoping that by offering alternatives to the map pool, it will spur conversations about future ladder map additions, and it might even get one of these maps added. Please see the link below with high resolution screen shots of the maps. The maps that we are presenting today for consideration are as follows: (GS) Sand Crystal Shard: 272950 credits [N3] Vales of the Templars (4p): 261600 credits [N3] Canyon Paths (4p): 204575 credits (cn2) Twin Peaks (Symmetrical): 200700 credits (MN) Neo Electric Avenue: 196100 credits [MC] Nuclear (TestVersion): 174050 credits [UF] Tournament Middle Camp (v2.1?): 160500 credits (Wht)Eventide: 158650 credits (WHT)QUICKSILVER: 134100 credits Tournament Dessert (newest): 132375 credits (Wht) Rush Down Rampage (Symmetrical): 124700 credits [MC] Shuriken (Sym): 120775 credits Tournament Highlands: 119675 credits (PaRapp56) Higher Order v1.0: 119200 credits [MC] River Split v2.1: 113275 credits Duality 3.6: 111675 credits (Wht) Frosted Hostilities (Symmetrical): 107350 credits (Wht) Frosted Hostilities (Vertically mirrored): 107350 credits (WHT)IRON VALLEY: 105225 credits These maps are all currently available in the custom map search for Tiberian Dawn. Ultimately our plan is to have a community map vote about which map(s) are the best and would add the most diversity to the map pool. Please let us know how these maps play over the coming weeks and please leave any feedback in the thread below. Thank you. [link] [comments]

The End of Days mod is cool and all, but... Posted: 17 Aug 2020 02:28 PM PDT The End of Days mod makes things such as advanced AA and artillery completely broken thanks to the AI having complete map vision. Surprise air raids and missile bombardment are made useless by extremely irritating heavy AA units. Another thing I find annoying is how slow missile based artillery is in the mod. They move slow, deploy slow, reload slow, and build slow. Normally I don't care but the thing that gets me is that they lack a rangefinder. Many times targets are either too close or too far, so you'll need to undeploy them, move them, and deploy them again. Games against the AI turn into a slow, boring stalemate in the late game as weak support powers are used constantly in vain and ground forces become impractical to use. Air isn't effective either due to the AI abusing its map vision and heavy AA. There are no superweapons either to shorten games. These issues wouldn't be so bad if AA and artillery didn't play such a big role in the mod. [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Aug 2020 07:56 AM PDT How do you play online in LAN mode with other people around the world? I want to play with mods online, but how? Is there a guide somewhere, or just a specific VPN to download and use? [link] [comments]
Hey, so I wrote a thing. Please tell me what you all think. Posted: 17 Aug 2020 11:23 AM PDT Hey everyone, I am a guy who enjoys writing at times, and the mood has struck me to put something, anything down, and Command and Conquer has given me a good outlet for that. So I thought I would write a scenario for a Red Alert setting. I decided I would put it in the same Timeline as Red Alert 2, taking place after the war, making this more of a true sequel to Red Alert 2 if you wanna look at it that way, since Red Alert 3 was an alternate timeline. However this comes with it's own problems, so these are the rules we will be using for the setup; In the Aftermath of the Allied Victory in Yuris Revenge, the Timelines merged just as we saw in the Allied Ending, but the preceding games and many of the events in them still happened to an extent. So the Third World War and the conflict after it still affected the entire world. Does this make sense? Not really but it's about the most expedient thing I can do without a complete rewrite like RA3. So WW3 and PDD still happen. Good? Ok, just throwing that out there. Lets look at the Allies first. America: Following the Third World War, the Allies were in a bad state, but none more so than the United States. Despite being the clear victor of the war the situation in America was grim. Large sections of the country were ravaged with from fighting with the Soviets. President Dugan, despite seeing America to victory became widely unpopular as many saw him as chiefly responsible for the Soviet invasion, having been the one to supervise the direction of the Russian Government just prior to the war. Protests swept the country and he, as well as many in his administration were forced to resign when it became clear that even their own political party refused to back him. A snap election was then held, and the new American President is almost the complete opposite of Dugan. A hawkish crusading Anti-Communist, the President ran on a platform of Rebuilding the American Dream, and rooting out Communism wherever it stands. He has received some criticisms for heavily policing or outright banning many left wing political parties in the United States, but his popularity has remained steady. After the war, the US received recompense in the form of payments from many of the nations in the Soviet Block. More prominently however was the Annexation of Cuba and parts of Mexico. The US technically stayed at war with Cuba, even after the fall of Moscow, and with the nation no longer distracted, it focused heavily on the small island nation, and within a few months managed to fully occupy it, driving the nations Communists out of the nation or underground, the small island presumably to be integrated as a US sovereign territory at some point. Mexico, having hosted the Soviet invasion in the first place also lost land, though the United States, not wanting to overextend it's exhausted military, only took Baja California, and pushed the rest of the Mexican Border 50 miles South, forcing the Mexicans to abandon several military bases. The message was clear, "America would never forget." The U.K. France and other European Nations: Many of the Anti-Establishment protests that forced President Dugan to resign also found their way into the European Nations, as thousands of citizens all throughout Europe were angered by their governments not warning the United States of the impending invasion when all the signs were there, and then sitting out almost half the war. Though none were hit by these protests quite as hard as the UK. Having been more or less untouched by now 3 world wars, many British citizens started to think of their nation as cowardly regardless of the UKs contributions. The new Prime Minster of the UK, a former Brigadier General promised that Europe would not suffer another Soviet War, and his position on the rest of the European continent can only be described as Imperialistic and Interventionist to a fault. France suffered some damage from Soviet Commando attacks, specifically in Paris, and as a result many in France have pushed for the need for a nation that doesn't tolerate Communists in any capacity. As a nation, France has been busy providing relief supplies for the various nations affected by the war with the Soviets. However, it can be argued that no European Nation has suffered more damage from the Soviets than Germany. Having been on the front lines against the Soviets in two world wars in a manner of decades, Germany has seen a level of Anti-Communist radicalization unparalleled by even the Americans. It's pushed for a more formal Anti-Communist Pact with other Allied nations, set up new military training facilities for the specific purpose of training military personnel in special tactics for fighting Communists, and is the key supplier of Anti-Communist propaganda on the continent. France, Germany, and Britain all operate an extensive group of military bases set up in the European part of Russia formally overseen by the British Military. These bases are to help keep control of the situation in Russia, as well as to keep the new provisional government stable. Korea: The Republic of Korea fought alongside the Allied Nations in the Third World War, giving the Allies access to the Pacific and putting pressure on the Soviets in the East. As a result, Korea was awarded land for their service, specifically large chunks of Siberia and Soviet East-Asia, possibly most importantly of all, the port city of Vladivostok. On one hand, this gives the Republic of Korea a huge amount of resources as well important industrial areas, and with these, near unprecedented influence in the Asian Sphere. The downside is that Korea now has a much larger territory to police with its limited forces, but the riches from Siberia make it worth it, and makes Korea, arguably one of the most influential nations in the Allies. Canada: Despite playing a key role in the war, and housing the American Government in Exile, Canada was awarded with very little once the dust settled. They didn't receive and land, were awarded the least in reparations. This caused a lot of discontent and grumbling from Canadian citizens who felt that they were owed more. As a result, many in Canada turned a blind eye when Communists and other members of various Leftists movements fled to their nation for asylum. The Canadian Government is aware of these people fleeing to their country, and for the most part is willing to turn a blind eye to them as long as they don't cause trouble. Eastern Europe: Following the War, the Big Three in Europe set about putting political and military pressure on the various communist nations in Europe. Many ended up having open snap elections, with many of the outcomes favoring candidates with Pro-Capitalist and Pro-Western views, though many within these nations suspect that the majority of the elections were rigged. Several of these nations also were pressured into signing Mutual Defense Pacts, which mostly meant that France and Germany got to set up bases in or very close to their homelands. Within a few short years, Communism in Europe was by and large dismantled, leaving the situation for the Communists, "Shockingly Grim." And now the Soviets Iraq, Libya, and the Other Desert Nations: Iraq managed to escape the Third World War mostly intact, as did many of it's neighbors, simply because not much of the fighting was done in the desert nations which gave them ample time to observe the world after the fall of Moscow and to prepare for what was to come. Iraq and the other nations managed to escape the systematic dismantling of the governments and systems that plagued Eastern Europe through one reason and one reason alone, Oil. The various Middle East and North African nations combined housed the largest supply of oil in the world, and they threatened to destroy oil fields and burn stockpiles if the Allies attempted to intervene in their governments in anyway. This gave the Allies pause for thought, and knowing they would be hard pressed to fight in the desert and police their new territories, begrudgingly agreed to stay out of the affairs of these nations. The revenue generated from oil sales throughout the world has allowed Iraq and it's neighbors to supply communist militants and guerrillas throughout the world, cleverly supplied in disguised cargo ships. Latin America: Americas annexation of Cuba and seizure of territory from Mexico drove many communists out of their homes, either to flee further south or overseas. Castro was never captured by American government and remains at large with the highest bounty on his head than any person alive. Many Cubans and Mexicans ended up in nations like Peru and Argentina, where they have started setting up insurgent camps and small communes in the hopes of one day liberating their homelands. Russia: The home of the Revolution may have been spared the most of the fighting, but it wasn't spared in the peace talks. It's Eastern lands were handed over to nations considered lesser than themselves, and their Western territories were occupied by the Allies. Unlike the aftermath of the Second World War, which at least saw a Communist government stay in power, the Allies refused to be so lenient. A new constitution was drafted for Russia. Communism was now banned entirely, and a new government was set up. Unlike the governments in Eastern Europe, which at least had the pretense of an election, it was open knowledge that the new Russian Government was simply a puppet government to the Western Powers. The European Allied nations set up a complex system of military bases were set up in Western Russia, including in Moscow, to help compensate for the fact that Russias new constitution doesn't allow them to have a large military anymore, something that is now much more heavily policed than it was just prior to the last war. All of this has combined to make the Russian people feel as though they have lost all autonomy, and many more still are resentful at the Western Powers forcing them into a capitalist society. However, all is not lost for the Soviet Loyalists. Many members of the military, including high ranking officers managed to flee before they could be arrested, and now Soviet Resistance movements have sprung up all over in Asia Minor and the Ural Mountains. These locations, both remote and easily defensible have made it virtually impossible for the Russian Security Services to properly deal with the insurgents. While they lack unity and most of their heavier equipment, the motivated Soviet Resistance forces have already struck against the new Russian State by sabotaging the Trans Siberian Railroad, forcing Russia to rely even more on their Western Masters. They receive new equipment regularly from their allies in the Middle East, and their good relations with many Russian Citizens has allowed them to establish one of the most effective spy rings in the world, though it remains mostly localized in Russia. Were the Soviet Resistance forces to unify, they could conceivably depose the new government in Moscow, and push the Allies out of their Motherland. And that's about what I got so far. Questions? Comments? Anything I didn't mention that I should have? Leave a comment please, I like working on projects like this. [link] [comments]

Red Alert 3 is my favorite in the series but I'd love to play some of the others. Posted: 17 Aug 2020 07:25 AM PDT Tiberium Wars is the one that catches my attention the most, but whenever I see gameplay the maps always look very bland and expansive with nothing in between. RA3 has so much diversity when it comes to the maps. Also, is Kane's Wrath an expansion to TW similar to RA3 Uprising or a whole different game in its entirety? [link] [comments]
